Serbia to improve economic cooperation with Finland

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic spoke yesterday with Deputy Minister for Foreign Economic Relations of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Matti Anttonen about economic cooperation of the two countries and new projects.

At the meeting with the Finnish delegation led by Anttonen, Mihajlovic said that there is considerable room for improvement of economic cooperation between Serbia and Finland, especially in the fields of transport and infrastructure.

She informed her interlocutors about the most important current and potential infrastructure projects the Serbian government is working on, and gave them the Book of projects of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

In addition to the current projects on the road and railway infrastructure, worth €3.2 billion, new projects are also in preparation, of which most important are the modernisation of Belgrade-Budapest railway and “Belgrade Waterfront”.

Representatives of the Finnish companies expressed interest in possible cooperation in the field of transport equipment, safety in road and railway transport, as well as in the field of energy and advanced ecological technologies.

It was agreed to organise a visit of Finnish businessmen interested in further talks about technical and commercial issues related to concretisation of cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Finnish Ambassador to Serbia Pekka Orpana, reads a statement by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.
