According to the Serbian Statistical Office, consumer prices rose by 0.9% in February. As this growth was primarily driven by higher prices of fruit and vegetables, it should not be perceived as a rise in inflationary pressures. This is further confirmed by the monthly core inflation equalling 0.0% in February.

Consistent with the NBS expectations, y-o-y inflation rose to 0.8%. According to the central projection, y-o-y inflation will increase in the coming period, largely as a consequence of the base effect (low inflation last year) and the increase in energy prices.
