Serbia’s CPI is up by 0.5 pct in February

Serbia’s February 2013 consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.5 percent against January, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia said in a release Tuesday.

Year-on-year, the February consumer prices of goods and services purchased by households went up by of 12.4 percent, while increasing by 1.1 percent compared to December 2012.

Broken down into major product groups and services, the biggest rise in prices in February against a month earlier was observed in the groups of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.8 percent), communication (1.0 percent), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.8 percent), recreation and culture (0.6 percent), restaurants and hotels (0.3 percent) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.2 percent).

Decrease in prices was noted in the groups of clothing and footwear (-0.5 percent), transport (-0.2 percent) and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.1 percent).
