Serbia’s EPS turns to 9-mo net profit

State-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) turned to a net profit of 5.852 billion dinars ($60.8 million/49.8 million euro) in the first nine months of 2020 from 2.6 billion dinars loss in the like period of last year.

The company’s revenue edged down 0.6% on the year to 179.7 billion dinars, while costs decreased by 2.5% to 167 billion dinars, EPS said in an interim financial statement posted on its website.

EPS produced 24.7 TWh of electricity in the first nine months of 2020, 1% above the planned output of 24.5 TWh for the period.

The electricity generated by hydropower plants was 2% above the plan, while coal-fired power plants produced 1% more than envisaged.
