Serbia’s industrial production shrunk by 0.6%

According to the seasonally adjusted data of the Serbian Statistical Office, industrial production shrunk by 0.6% in August, while rising by 12.9% y-o-y. Observed by sector, manufacturing rose by 6.5% y-o-y, while mining and electricity, gas and steam supply recorded y-o-y growth of 14.6% and 43.3%, respectively.

Seasonally-adjusted data indicate that manufacturing edged up by 1.1% in August. Within manufacturing, the largest positive contribution to overall industry came from food production, while the major negative contributors were the production of motor vehicles, petroleum products and other branches of manufacturing.
Y-o-y, real retail trade turnover was up by 1.0% in August.

Based on data of the Serbian Statistical Office, commodity exports went up by 11.0% and imports by 8.3% y-o-y. Seasonally-adjusted, commodity exports dropped by 0.8% while imports rose by 5.2% from the month before.
