The car manufacturer Fiat Automobiles of Serbia (FAS), petrochemicals producer HIP-Petrohemija, and electronic car-parts maker Yura Corporation are the three biggest net exporters in Serbia, according to a survey on Serbia’s top 100 exporters and importers.

Around one third of the top 100 biggest exporters are at the same time among the top 100 importers, it was said at the presentation of the survey at the Kopaonik Business Forum.

The fact that Serbia’s main export products are expected to be corn, raspberry, apple and copper illustrates the structure of Serbian exports.

According to the list of 30 net exporters, which means companies that exported more than they imported in 2014, Kragujevac-based FAS made exports worth EUR 1.36 billion and imports worth EUR 929 million.

Pancevo-based HIP-Petrohemija, which is in the restructuring process, generated exports of EUR 148 million, and imports of EUR 21 billion. Yura Corporation, based in Raca, is ranked third with EUR 119 million in exports and EUR 42 million in imports last year.

The copper mining and smelting complex RTB Bor is ranked fourth, followed by Sojaprotein from Becej, pharmaceutical company Hemofarm from Vrsac with EUR 149 million in exports and EUR 89 million in import, then Yugoimport SDPR took the seventh spot with exports of EUR 67 million and imports of 12 million.

Zoran Jeremic, professor at the University of Singidunum and the Faculty of Economics, Finance and Administration (FEFA), said at the presentation that in the future, larger exports will be the only way to survive.

“This refers to the entire economy of the country which must focus on exports much more than it has been the case so far,” Jeremic said.
