Slovenian household appliances maker Gorenje said it aims to postpone the construction of a new plant in Valjevo, western Serbia, because of the economic crisis, newswires report.

Gorenje opened a refrigerator and freezer plant in Valjevo in 2006. Several years later Gorenje took on a 99-year lease some five hectares of land close to the existing factory, where it pledged to build a new plant until the end of 2011 and employ 500 workers in it until 2016.
