Representatives of micro and small enterprises have presented information on their importance for the overall economy of Serbia and in connection with several key measures that the Government should take, which, they say, would be a salvation for the 629 thousand people employed by these enterprises in our country.
Small businesses in Serbia make up a third of total GDP and employ 44 percent of registered employees. All these people are at risk because the traffic has been significantly reduced or suspended due to the epidemic, according to a letter from the Voice of the Entrepreneurs.
They urge SMEs to be exempted from paying income taxes, contributions and taxes, while the state of emergency is plus three months. Then they should be exempted from collecting utility fees and other charges from cities and municipalities, while the state of emergency lasts for the next three months.
They are also seeking a permanent measure of payment of VAT on collection.
As they explain, the salaries for the employees themselves are a big burden in the period when their work is completely or almost suspended.
“Health and safety come first, but for all these hundreds of thousands of people and their families to continue their lives beyond the state of emergency, it is imperative that the Government of Serbia comes up with a set of measures to help small businesses survive, so that we have a chance tomorrow, we will again be an important pillar of the economy and accelerate economic recovery”, the appeal said, Blic reports.
