The deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, stated today that the approximate price for 41 kilometers of the future subway is 4.4 billion euros.
Stating that the construction of the subway in the capital was “promised” back in 1971, he announced that the project would begin in November.
“Metro means that we will develop different parts of the city, reduce the number of buses, develop the BG train and thus have environmentally friendly transportation. The metro means that we live in the metropolis,” said Vesic for B92 television.
Commenting on the criticism of the opposition regarding that project, Vesic asked “can someone normal oppose the idea that a city of two million inhabitants has a subway”.
He added that at tomorrow’s session of the Crisis Staff for the Suppression of the Epidemic, he would propose extending the working hours of catering facilities until 10 pm and lifting the ban on gathering more than 30 people in them, with the obligation to further respect the measure that one guest must be provided with a minimum of four square meter, Danas reports.
