The export of organic food from Serbia in 2019 was worth 30 million euros

During 2019, organic agricultural production in Serbia took place on about 25,600 hectares, which is a third more than the year before. Last year, the export of those groceries was worth around 30 million euros, reports Vecernje novosti.
Of the land for that purpose, the arable land occupied about 19,000 hectares, while the rest were meadows, pastures, as well as all the land from which wild berries, mushrooms or medicinal herbs were collected.
The most represented, with about 46 percent of the total area, was farming, followed by farming with about 28.3 percent, while vegetables and medicinal plants participated with about 2.4 percent, said the head of the department for organic production of the Ministry of Agriculture, Branislav Raketic.
Last year, there were only 6,174 organic food producers in Serbia, and exports were worth 29.7 million euros.
This type of food was most often exported to Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland and the USA, and most of all it was frozen organic raspberries, blackberries and apple concentrate.
