The first Industrial-Chemical Park in the country, in Prahovo, is a large project that is in the phase of regulation and obtaining permits and is already attracting a lot of attention from investors, especially Chinese companies interested in being one step closer to business partners, said Vladimir Todorovic, vice president of Elixir Group.

Todorovic, who was elected the new chairman of the Board of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce at the session of the Association’s Committee for Chemical, Rubber and Non-Metal Industry, pointed out that the Prahovo Chemical Park is a place where chemical industries with similar energy needs will work like infrastructure, waste disposal and others – a great chance for the future and development of eastern Serbia, since it is located on the border of Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia, and at the crossroads of European road, river and railway corridors.

Production of chemicals products, thanks to increased demand for disinfectants, detergents and alcohol in 2020 recorded a growth of 5.9 percent compared to 2019, which is a significant increase and given the growth of 0.4 percent of total industrial production in Serbia, said Dragan Stevanovc, Secretary of the Association for the Chemical, Rubber and Non-Metal Industry of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

He stated at the session of the Board of the Association in the company “Elixir Prahovo” in Prahovo that a significant increase was recorded in the production of pesticides and chemicals for agriculture, which include biocidal products for disinfection.

The foreign trade exchange of chemical industry products amounted to 6.1 billion euros, which is 15.3 percent of the total trade of Serbia.

Most rubber and plastic products were exported, in the value of 1.5 billion euros, which resulted in a surplus of 434 million euros in 2020. Ljuba Stojcic, director of “Elixir Prahovo”, pointed out that the company celebrated 60 years of operation last year, and in 2012 the phosphoric acid factory produced about 20,000 tons of 50 percent phosphoric acid per year, while after the expansion of production capacities that will be realized over the next year, the annual production will be about 400,000 tons of phosphoric acid, which is mainly used to produce fertilizers.

This year, a new NPK fertilizer factory was built with a production capacity of 300,000 tons per year.

The factory for the production of aluminum tri-fluoride, an additive used in the production of aluminum, which in four months of operation, since December 2019, reached about 95% of its projected capacity, also had good results, so we expect to reach production in a month of about 5,000 tons of annual production of that additive, stated Stojcic. According to him, the idea is to double the capacity of the port, to 3 million tons, Vesti Online reports.
