The money should be given only to Serbian, not foreign hoteliers

The President of the Committee of the People’s Party for Economy and Entrepreneurship, Vladimir Kovacevic, stated that the new package of measures presented by the state is not good because it is aimed only at certain hotels.
“The state should subsidize domestic producers, not give money to hotels such as Hyatt, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Radisson. Whether they are part of a large foreign system chain or part of a franchise, they should be taken care of by the company’s parent companies in their countries,” Kovacevic said in a written statement.
He added that those hotels did not lower the prices of their services at any time during the pandemic.
“What is their contribution to the fight for their own survival? All economic entities have already received help for each employee, including hoteliers. The money should now be directed only to domestic hotels,” said Kovacevic, adding that money should not be given to hoteliers that are part of the big business of domestic tycoons.
Kovacevic reminded that the sectoral impact of tourism and hotel industry on the GDP of Serbia does not exceed three percent, N1 reports.
