The company Vance Airport, which manages the “Nikola Tesla” Airport, announced today that due to the corona measures of restricting travel around the world, the traffic of passengers at the Belgrade airport was 69.1 percent lower in 2020 compared to the previous year.
In the last quarter of 2020, 418,000 passengers were served at the “Nikola Tesla” Airport, which is 70.3 percent less than in the same period a year earlier, and the total number of passengers served in the entire last year is 1,904,000, which is 69.1 percent less annually, according to Vance.
The number of commercial flights in the last quarter of last year was 8,198, which is almost half less than in the same period in 2019, while a total of 33,622 commercial flights were recorded at the level of the whole year, 52.2 percent less than the previous year, reports Tanjug.
Due to the global health crisis, passenger traffic in the entire network of Vance Airport was reduced by 70% in 2020. A total of 76.6 million passengers were served, compared to 255 million passengers in 2019.
This result is a consequence of strict restrictions related to travel, and they were introduced around the world in order to support the fight against the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the company points out.
The airports of the home network, based in Europe and Asia, where the restrictive measures were the most severe, showed a significant drop in traffic, about 72 percent, compared to the airports in America, about 61 percent, it is added in the announcement, Tanjug reports.
