According to the decision of the Government of Serbia, the quotas for the import of wine from the European Union will be distributed at preferential rates next year, which will limit the amount of wine that can be delivered by one importer, the Union of Employers of Serbia announced.
“We are pleased that the Government of Serbia accepted the initiative of the Union of Employers and made this decision. It introduces order in our wine market and enables equal competition for all participants in import business, regardless of their size,” said Srdjan Drobnjakovic, director of the Union of Employers of Serbia. .
Quotas for wine import are determined by quarters, and in the first three quarters of 2021, an individual importer can import a maximum of 15 percent of the total quota.
The last quarter is exempt from this decision, and if one importer did not reach 15 percent of the quarterly quota in the previous quarter, that amount is added to the maximum 15 percent in the next quarter.
The total quota for the import of wine from the EU in 2021 is 2.5 million liters and is divided into four equal quarterly quotas of 625,000 liters each, Nova Ekonomija reports.
