Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Minister Rasim Ljajic said that because of a travel ban from China, the country’s citizens had massively canceled previously arranged travel arrangements for February, March and mid-April.
Speaking to TV Prva, Ljajic said that there were no cancellations of jobs and contracts that had been signed so far, but that there was a certain slowdown in the realization of these agreements, as well as that the export of timber was stopped at this time.
He also said that there was no increase in sales of certain foodstuffs in Serbia, as in some parts of Europe due to fears of a virus corona epidemic, and that he had been told at a meeting with representatives of major retailers that there were sufficient supplies and goods and that there is no need for citizens to create personal supplies.
“No one minimizes the risk of a virus corona, but we don’t have any need for this kind of panic and hysteria. There is no information on increased sales of certain types of goods and the truth is the best argument in this situation is not easy in the whole world and the most important thing is that we have constant communication with citizens and inform them on time”, said Ljajic.
Ljajic also said that to date there have been no cancellations of flights from Serbia to any destination, Biz Life reports.
