The arrival of the American development agency DFC in Belgrade is great news for the Serbian economy and a strong signal for future investors, the vice president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia, Ivan Miletic, told RTS.
For the first time, one of the most powerful American financial organizations, the American development agency DFC, will open its representative office in Belgrade, the only such office in the region. It is an organization with an annual budget of over 60 billion dollars.
The vice president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia, Ivan Miletic, told RTS that this is great news for the Serbian economy and shows a serious signal to investors.
– DFC is, to put it simply, an American development bank established to finance energy, transport, infrastructure projects in developing countries, but DFC also invests in smaller projects such as women’s entrepreneurship – Miletic explained.
DFC financial assistance will enable the progress of the Serbian economy, the arrival of investors and the creation of new jobs, and with the opening of this office, Serbia will become the economic center of the Balkans.
– It could be said that Serbia is already the economic center in the region and that can be seen in the representative offices that have already been opened, and the opening of the DFC office only confirms that – said Miletic.
The value of future investments is still in the realm of speculation, but if it is known that American companies have already invested around four billion dollars in Serbia, the arrival of DFC will significantly increase those investments.
– We will know more at the end of the month, and it can be assumed that investments in health and infrastructure will continue. Any announcement of economic integration is great news for the region, and the implementation of such agreements is the most important. The starting point is that better cooperation in the economy also contributes to better political relations, and faster flow of goods and people is the key to the development of the region. We will continue to support such agreements – the vice president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia told RTS.
American companies in Serbia have invested four billion dollars and employ 20,000 people, while the total investments of all companies that are members of the American Chamber of Commerce amount to 14 billion and employ 100,000 people.
The opening of the DFC office in Belgrade, which was also announced by its director Adam Boler, will make us more visible on the map of the world of investors, said Ivan Miletic, Vesti Online reports.
