We are starting to build three new highways, and finishing three others, says Zorana Mihajlovic, minister of Transport, Construction and Infrastructure.

Speaking for Prva TV on Tuesday, she announced that before the beginning of the year, the southern and eastern leg of Corridor 10 will be finished, as well as 103 kilometers from Obrenovac to Cacak.

Mihajlovic added that a section from Surcin to Obrenovac will be completed by the end of the year, so a total of 120 kilometers of the highway from Surcin to Cacak will be completed.

The minister announced that in April will see the beginning of works near Lucani on the section of the highway to Montenegro from Preljina to Pozega.

“In addition, in June, works will start on the first section of the Belgrade-Sarajevo highway, from Sremska Raca to Kuzmin,” Mihajlovic said, adding that construction of the Morava Corridor, i.e., the Pojate-Preljina highway, will also start this year.

Mihajlovic said she expects the launch of 12 routes from the Nis airport Konstantin Veliki to affect 1.2 million Serbs living in the diaspora, and expects the airport in southern Serbia to serve 500,000 passengers next year.

“We have 20 percent more tourists than before, we expect the arrival of the diaspora,” Mihajlovic said, adding that subsidies totalling 5 million euros have been set aside.
