Zijin needs to install additional capacities and reduce the emission of harmful gases in the smelter in Serbia

Today, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, talked with the representatives of the company Zijin about the development of the new mine Cukaru Peki and RTB Bor itself.
President Vucic asked the company’s representatives to install additional capacities and reduce the emission of harmful gases in the smelter in Bor, and to provide completely clean air for the inhabitants of this city by the end of the year at the latest, the Serbian President’s Media Cooperation Service announced.
The Cukaru Peki project is significant from the aspect of a rapid increase in the production of copper concentrate and later cathode copper.
Investments of 500 million dollars are projected for the development and construction of the upper zone of the Cukaru Peki Mine.
During the meeting, the dynamics and development plan of the mining basin were presented.
Zijin has pledged to invest over 1 billion dollars in upgrading, expanding or building four mines and smelters by the sixth anniversary of the transaction’s closure.
President Vucic pointed out that it is expected that, after the completion of the system for reducing air pollution, emissions of harmful gases will be in the limit values.
The system for reducing air pollution is expected to be functional in August, it was stated in the announcement, Tanjug reports.
