Chinese plastic granules maker Zhong Qiao Nengyuan Keji and Turkey’s Feka Automotive plan to start this year the construction of factories in Cuprija, in central Serbia, the mayor of Cuprija, Ninoslav Eric, said.

Zhong Qiao plans to start the production of plastic granules in Cuprija through a recycling process this year, while Feka Automotive is currently preparing the project documentation for its factory, Eric said, as quoted in a statement by the Cuprija local government earlier this week.

The factory of the Chinese company will be located at a former production plant of Serbian insolvent company Velmortrans, Eric said.

Moreover, Serbian company Eurofiber, owned by Hong Kong-based China Prosperity Industrial Corporation, intends to start the production of socks in Cuprija in partnership with another Chinese company, he added.

The Chinese investments in Cuprija follow a visit by a delegation of Cuprija officials to China. Last year, Cuprija signed a twin-city agreement with Shuyang County, located in China’s northern province of Jiangsu.
