Serbia records a 11.7 percent rise in tourists

Around 299,490 tourists from the country and abroad visited Serbia in August this year, up by 11.7 percent year-on-year, while the number of overnight stays increased by 9.2 percent.

A total of 903,772 overnight stays were made in August 2015 – 591,294 by local and 312,478 by international tourists, the national statistics office said in a release.

The number of overnight stays by local tourists was up by 8.8 percent in August, and by visitors from abroad by 10.0 percent.

Over the first eight months of 2015, a total of 1.67 million tourists visited Serbia, 911,490 locals and 764,764 foreigners, which is an increase of 12.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Around 4.7 million overnight stays were made from January to August 2015 – 3.06 million by local tourists and 1.65 million by guests from abroad.
