Flag carrier Air Serbia will migrate to a passenger reservations system supplied by US technology provider Sabre Corporation in April, the airline’s CEO Dane Kondic said.
“This project is one of our biggest technology upgrades in years and will revolutionise the services we offer,” Air Serbia’s inflight magazine Elevate quoted Kondic as saying in its January edition.
The switch to the Sabre system will allow Air Serbia to manage the transit of passengers more efficiently and communicate better with Etihad Airways’ partners, many of which use the same technology, Kondic pointed out.
In February 2016, Sabre Corporation said Air Serbia had selected the SabreSonic Customer Sales & Service (CSS) to enhance the ground service offered at Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade.
The migration to the high-tech IT system will allow Air Serbia to move to a single, connected platform for passenger reservations, check-in and boarding, and all other critical airline operations including flight operations and network management.
In 2013, Etihad Airways signed a strategic partnership deal to acquire 49% of then state-owned JAT Airways while getting a five-year management contract for the airline and rebranding it to Air Serbia in October of the same year. The Serbian government owns the remaining 51%.
