Serbia’s government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) for the construction of the Pozega-Boljare motorway section, part of pan-European Corridor XI, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said.
“The memorandum we signed in Dubrovnik refers to the section which is the most demanding from a financial and civil engineering point of view on the whole Corridor XI through Serbia, the Pozega-Boljare section to the Montenegrin border,” Mihajlovic said in a statement on Friday.
The MoU was signed by Mihajlovic and the vice chairman of CRBC, Lu Shan, during the 9th Summit of Central and Eastern European Countries and China in Croatia’s Dubrovnik.
The total investment in the construction of the 107 km-long section is estimated at about 2 billion euro ($2.3 billion), Mihajlovic said in June.
The section is part of pan-European Corridor XI – a motorway linking Italy’s Bari to Romania’s Bucharest via Montenegro’s Bar port and Serbia’s Belgrade, of which 103 km are planned to be completed this year.
