Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic has stated that Serbia us likely to get the EU candidate status by the end of the year, and that the decision on the beginning of the EU accession talks probably have to wait until the next year.
Djelic said in an interview for Voice of America that Serbia and certain EU members do not agree on the normalization of relations with Kosovo.
The Serbian official also commented on the recent semi-annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) and welcomed the agreement which enabled Serbia withdraw a USD 240 million installment of the WB loan in order to mitigate the effects of the global economic crisis, particularly the crisis in Greece, on the Serbian economy.
