China to invest “USD 2bn in Serbia”

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić continued Saturday his visit to China by conferring with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi in Beijing.

On Friday he met with the country’s businessmen who voiced readiness to invest USD 2bn in projects in Serbia.

Concrete projects the Chinese side is interested in are worth around USD 2bn, with investment period of several years, the Serbian Foreign Ministry released in a statement.

Jeremić started his official visit to China in Hong Kong on Friday, meeting with officials of large companies, to whom he presented the possibilities of investing in Serbia.

“I am very satisfied with today’s talks, and the projects we discussed could be ready for implementation by the end of this month,” the minister said after the meeting.

The Chinese businessmen showed special interest in direct investments in the field of energy and textile industry.
