The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) has announced that it is forbidden to charge fees to banks and other payment service providers for donations to combat the coronavirus epidemic.
At the Executive Board meeting, the NBS adopted a decision “prohibiting the collection of fees and other costs for services rendered in payment transactions upon payment or transfer of funds in dinars and foreign currencies to the special accounts of the Republic of Serbia, which were opened for receiving donations in combat against the coronavirus epidemic”, the Central Bank website stated.
Pursuant to this decision, banks, electronic money institutions, payment institutions and PO “PoÅ¡ta Srbije” may not charge payment fees to users of payment services and transfers to the aforementioned accounts, regardless of whether these transactions are made as payment at the counter payment service providers, as a transfer from a current or other payment account or the provision of another type of payment service, has been specified by NBS.
Also, in performing these transactions, NBS will not charge fees for those services that it itself provides in connection with their execution, N1 reports.
