The commission of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications approved subsidies for 314 hotel facilities, out of a total of 520 submitted requests, in order to support business in the conditions of the corona virus epidemic, said Deputy Prime Minister and line minister Rasim Ljajic.
According to him, 10,562,200 euros will be paid for this purpose.
“Hotels that have realized the right to the subsidy will be paid 350 euros per individual bed and an additional 150 euros per room. Payment could start as early as the end of next week,” Ljajic told Tanjug.
He emphasized that the tourism sector is the only one specially treated in this crisis, considering that it is the most affected, especially the hotel industry.
“These funds will certainly help a lot to overcome the economic consequences caused by the corona virus epidemic,” Ljajic added.
Categorized hotels in 68 local self-government units had the right to use subsidies.
This possibility could not be realized by facilities in mountainous and spa places, which are calculated to have had a significant number of domestic guests during the summer months, which partially compensated for the losses due to the absence of foreign tourists, RTV reports.
