The company for the production of software, parts and engines for airplanes, MTU Aero Engines AG from Munich, will start building a factory in Serbia in the second half of March.
The first workers should start working in the new plants in about a year from the beginning of construction, and then 400 to 500 of them will get contracts for an indefinite period of time. As the president of the municipality of Stara Pazova, Djordje Radinovic, points out, this will be one of the biggest investments in the last decades in Srem.
“The land on which the halls of the MTU company will be built belongs to the state, so we did not have any problems with expropriation,” says Radinovic.
“The facilities will be built near the swimming pool, near the Nova – Stara Pazova intersection on 25 hectares. The plan is for the works to start in a month and a half, and for production to start in March 2022. The construction of this aviation industry giant will almost eradicate Unemployment in our municipality, as it is currently only three percent. There will be work here for the residents of the surrounding places that gravitate towards Stara Pazova, primarily for the residents of Pecinac, Ruma, Zemun, Batajnica and Indjija.”
For the purpose of opening a large factory, the state of Serbia will donate land worth 6.25 million euros to a German investor for the construction of a plant for the maintenance and repair of aircraft engines and related services. The investment project states an investment of 4.8 million euros for land infrastructure, 45.9 million euros is roughly reserved for the design and construction of production facilities, and 50.2 million is the value of the planned investment in new equipment.
“More than 100 highly qualified people will be needed to work in the new plants, for which we have already set aside two departments in the Technical School, so that the younger staff can be adequately trained,” Radinovic points out for Novosti. “When the project is completely over, several halls will be built with an area of 30,000 to 50,000 square meters. The Germans carefully chose the location, and we offered the best conditions. The ultimate goal is to employ 1,800 to 2,000 people, which are incredible numbers. For our municipality, but also for the entire Srem region, this means a lot and the benefits of opening such a factory, which normally operates in a hundred countries around the world, will only be seen.”
MTU has committed to build the facility, ie to invest in fixed assets at least 100,900,000 euros by the end of 2025.
The Technical School in Stara Pazova currently has educational profiles in three areas of work – mechanical engineering and processing, traffic and chemistry, non-metals and graphics. In this educational institution, they say that it is for the needs of the factory for aircraft parts from Munich for the school year 2021-2022, enrollment of a mixed class of three-year dual educational profiles of 15 students for the profile of locksmith-welder and processing operator is planned, B92 reports.
