Bitcoin crossed the 50,000 dollars threshold yesterday, continuing a sharp rise. The record growth of the price of bitcoin especially intensified after the manufacturer of electric cars “Tesla” announced that it had invested 1.5 billion dollars in this currency.
“Mining”, currently the most famous cryptocurrency on the planet, is becoming increasingly popular in our country as well. Four years ago, the first devices were opened in Serbia through which it is possible to trade this electronic money, and there are also several specialized exchange offices.
– It takes only two minutes for a user to open his bitcoin “wallet” on a computer or phone – points out Marko Matanovic, COO in the ECD cryptocurrency exchange service. – For registration, all you need is a good internet, a phone number, an email address that the user will receive by opening an account, as well as money with which a person wants to buy bitcoins. There are about 50,000 people in Serbia who have opened an account at least once and done some of the transactions, and that number is constantly increasing.
Bitcoins are available through various exchanges, but they can also be bought directly on the market from other people. Payment in cash, credit or debit cards or some other cryptocurrency is available.
– This method of sending funds offers various benefits. Thus, if you send money from abroad to family members in Serbia through bitcoin “wallets”, there will be no fees and commissions, and the money will be transferred to the user’s account in ten minutes – Matanovic points out. – It is certain that in the near future, electronic payments and digital money will be dominant. Already, a large number of online stores, banks and financial institutions accept cryptocurrencies like any “classic”.
In Serbia, this cryptocurrency is mostly used by the younger male population, ie people from 20 to 30 years of age, while middle-aged residents have the most money. Bitcoin machines in Serbia, 24 of them, are located in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Subotica, Nis, Indjija and Kopaonik, Novosti reports.
