About 240 tons of copper were “caught” and returned to the Bor Smelter from the plant for waste solution removal and wastewater treatment, and the copper that was “saved” at current prices is worth about 2.2 million dollars, the company Zijin announced today.
The statement states that this was achieved by two small plants within the Bor Electrolysis of Copper, the Smelter and the Refinery, one of which is for the desiccation of waste solutions, and the other for the treatment of wastewater.
“Last year, the plant for uncovering waste solutions from the complete Electrolysis, including ‘Zlatar’,” extracted 170 tons of copper from those solutions. The wastewater treatment plant, which further treats the wastewater from the Electrolysis and Gold Factory in a chemical way, ‘extracted’ another 70 tons of copper,” the statement reads, Danas reports.
