Every tenth business owner in Serbia is a foreigner

Data on the actual owners of each company, institution, cooperative, foundation and endowment are in the records of the same name at the Business Registers Agency. According to the latest data, as of March 19, 2021, slightly more than 85% of those who had that obligation were entered in this record. As they point out in the APR, 180,743 natural persons are registered as real owners in the Central Register of Real Owners.
According to citizenship, the real owners in the largest percentage, 89.65 percent, are citizens of Serbia, while 10.34 percent are foreigners.
As a percentage, most companies have registered their real owners – the last in the ownership chain. Next, according to the APR – institutions, endowments and foundations, and only then the associations that have fulfilled this obligation.
162,037 domestic natural persons and a total of 18,695 foreigners are registered in the Central Register of Real Owners.
Most real owners – foreigners are from Italy, a total of 1,511.
Slovenia follows with 1,280 real owners, then Croatia with only four less owners – 1,276. In the top five are Germany with 979 and Austria with 907 real owners.
“We remind that the registration of beneficial owners is a permanent obligation of registered entities, both those that have just been established and those who change the ownership structure, body members or who register some other change based on which they acquire the status of beneficial owner,” said the Business Registers Agency, N1 reports.
