Improving economic cooperation between Serbia, China

Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said during yesterday‘s talks with members of the delegation of the Chinese company China Machinery Engineering Corporation that good political relations between Serbia and China should be followed by the promotion of economic cooperation.

Dacic pointed out that Serbia is interested in implementing together with China the second phase of the project of the expansion of the open pit mine Drmno in Kostolac, and construction of a new block of the thermal power plant Kostolac, worth $700 million.

This project would be realised as part of China’s financial package for the projects from 16 countries of central and eastern Europe, under preferential terms of financing.

The realisation of this project would engage local construction companies and machinery engineering industry, it was stated in the talks of Dacic with the delegation of China Machinery Engineering Corporation, led by company’s Executive Director Yang Wansheng.
