Serbia’s Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government Verica Kalanovic announced that the realisation of regional projects in road infrastructure will begin next year, adding that the budget for these purposes will not be smaller than the previous one, but will be distributed differently.
At a conference “Financing infrastructure at a local level – possibilities and challenges”, Kalanovic stressed that the completion of the Kragujevac–Batocina motorway, which is indispensable for the development of Sumadija as the centre of the car industry in the Balkans, will be the main priority by the end of 2013. The Minister said that the second priority is the beginning of the construction of a regional motorway to link Corridors 10 and 11, which should begin in spring 2013. This way seven municipalities with over 500,000 people, including Krusevac, Kraljevo and Cacak, will be connected, she noted.
