The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will this year allocate between 350-400 million euros for investment in Serbia, new EBRD Director for Serbia Matteo Patrone said, ANSAmed reported.
At a conference on food industry in Belgrade, he said that the EBRD would allocate 400 million euros for Serbia over the next three years as well.
Patrone said that the EBRD was operating in Serbia since 2001, investing about 3.2 billion euros in the country, of which half of the funds in the public and half in the private sector. He said that about one billion went into transport infrastructure development and about 500 million into the energy sector.
About 1.5 billion was allocated for enterprises and the financial sector, 750 million of which went into the food industry. The EBRD invested 1.6 billion in a total of 53 operations over the last three years, Patrone said.
He stated that the goal of the bank in Serbia, as well as in other countries, was a sustainable business climate and good management practices.
