Serbia’s foreign trade grows by 0.7% in H1 2024, trade deficit increases

Serbia’s total foreign trade in goods for the first half of 2024 reached approximately 33.5 billion euros, according to data from the Republic Statistical Office (RZS). This represents a 0.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

Exports amounted to 14.6 billion euros, marking a modest 0.1% growth from the previous year. Imports totaled 18.8 billion euros, reflecting a 1.3% increase. This resulted in a trade deficit of 4.2 billion euros, a 5.6% rise from the previous year.

The export-to-import coverage ratio stands at 77.3%, down from 78.2% in the same period last year.

In terms of product categories, reproduction products dominate exports, followed by consumer goods and equipment. Serbia’s foreign trade is heavily concentrated with countries with which it has free trade agreements, with EU member states accounting for 59.9% of total trade. Germany remains Serbia’s largest foreign trade partner, with exports valued at 2.1 billion euros and imports at 2.5 billion euros.
