Halkbank, seventh largest bank in Turkey and a bank with the largest growth rate in Europe since 2008, opened its office in Belgrade. This is the first Turkish bank in Serbia and it has commenced operation through its branch office in Macedonia. Halkbank CEO Syleiman Aslan said at the opening ceremony in downtown Belgrade that this bank has a capital of $65 billion and “a growth strategy for Balkans” with already a network of 27 offices in Macedonia. Aslan said that Halkbank believes in the progress of Serbia’s economy and that it has decided to take the first step towards its regional expansion by opening an office in the Serbian market, as Serbia is a key point in the future strategy of Halkbank.
