In the port “Danube” in Bogojevo, out of a total of 60 million euros, the state will invest 40 million, and the concessionaire the remaining 20 million.
The port of Bogojevo will be one of the most beautiful in this part of the Danube when we complete the investments in its expansion of 60 million euros, said today during the visit to the port “Danube” the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic.
– This port is turned to the agricultural business, but when we complete this investment, when we add the oil terminal and the part for bulk cargo, this will be the dominant port on this part of the Danube and one of the largest in our country – said Momirovic.
He added that he was proud that Serbia would invest 500 million euros in water infrastructure this year and next.
– That may not be visible, because we invest billions in highways, railways and airports, and water traffic goes unnoticed, and it may be the best part of our investments – said Momirovic.
He added that the residents of the surrounding municipalities will benefit the most from the expansion of the port in Bogojevo, and that the new port will create 160 jobs.
– This will generate much bigger trade, much bigger transhipment, so that in two years the municipality of Odzaci when we finish this part of the work will be a municipality with a completely different perspective, with many more employees and I am convinced that the average salary will increase – said Momirovic.
The expansion plan includes increasing the port area by two-thirds, with the construction of a sheltered port, oil terminals, additional silos, new warehouses, bulk cargo space, and a railroad. Assistant Minister Veljko Kovacevic said that after the completion of the works, the transhipment capacity will increase to 750,000 tons per year, which is twice as much as now, and in the medium term to one million tons.
He added that the construction of additional silos for cereals will affect the price of these products, because they will contribute to preserving the quality of these products and their better placement on the foreign market. Momirovic pointed out that the investments of 500 million euros refer to the ports in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Bogojevo, Sremska Mitrovica and Prahovo.
– The state will invest 380 million euros in them, our concessionaires another 120 million. I think that we will have something we have never had in history, that all regional traffic and logistics will be focused on Serbia and its watercourses – said Momirovic.
He emphasized that Serbia is not doing that to make the ports look nice, but because our producers no longer use ports in neighboring countries, but to make Serbia a center of trade. Momirovic did not want to comment on the assessment that the new port in Bogojevo will take over a good part of the work of the port in Vukovar, Srbija Danas reports.

– Everyone is fighting in the market. We invest to attract as much work as possible. We do not want to take away anyone’s job, we just want our workers to have as much work as possible, for people from Odžak, Bač to find perspective in their area, to get a job and have higher salaries – Momirović emphasized.
