The Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, Zoran Djordjevic, said today, at the opening of the International Professional Conference Business on Heels, that the role of women’s entrepreneurship in economic development should be significantly greater.
Djordjevic pointed out that in the coming period, the line ministry will consider possibilities for wider application of affirmative measures related to the underrepresented sex in the field of development of small and medium enterprises, banking, catering, trade and social services, development of cooperatives and IT sector, in order to promote gender equality in the domain of these activities.
– According to the research of the Ministry on the representation of women and men among registered economic entities, which was conducted at the end of last year, women are not more represented than men in any of the categories of registered economic entities with APR – said the minister, according to the government website.
According to him, in the category of “owner or share owner”, out of a total of 164,833 registered citizens, 122,961 are male and only 41,872 are female.

– There are twice as many men (177,669) than women (89,087) and among the founders of entrepreneurship, which points to the conclusion of the need for stronger political and financial support for programs to increase the representation and influence of women in decision-making in various economic areas, especially in entrepreneurship – Djordjevic said.
