Air Serbia appoints new vice president Asia Pacific

Air Serbia, the national airline of the Republic of Serbia, has appointed Mr Stevan Sipka, an experienced aviation professional, as its new Vice President Asia Pacific, effective immediately. Aviation Online has been appointed the new General Sales and Service Agent (GSA) for Australia and New Zealand.In his new role Stevan Sipka will be based in Sydney, where he will have overall responsibility for Air Serbia’s expanded commercial operations in the Asia Pacific region.Bringing a wealth of industry experience to the airline, Mr Sipka worked with both Qantas and Virgin Australia. At Qantas he held the positions of Commercial Manager Asia and General Manager Alliances for Asia. Immediately prior to joining Air Serbia he worked for Virgin Australia as General Manager Revenue Planning.Mr Sipka was a member of the initial management team of Air Serbia, following the airline’s formation as a result of the partnership between the Government of Serbia and Etihad Airways in October 2013. Mr Sipka played a pivotal role in leading key commercial activities including sales, revenue planning, commercial reporting and analysis, and developing distribution enhancement strategies. Mr Sipka was also deeply involved in regional aero-political issues, as well as driving partnership benefits for Air Serbia.Dane Kondić, Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia, said: “We are delighted to welcome Stevan to the newly-created position of Vice President Asia Pacific, where his commercial skills and experience in the aviation industry, combined with knowledge of Air Serbia’s business will be invaluable to us. Stevan’s appointment, combined with securing Aviation Online as our GSA, is recognition of the importance of the Australasia market – home to more than 100,000 people from the Serbian diaspora. We aim to grow our profile and offer more choice for our guests in the Asia Pacific region,” Mr Kondić said.
