As part of the planned cooperation, “Menzies” will provide ground handling services to Air Serbia passengers at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) from February 2024. Under the agreement, which is the largest so far for Menzies in Eastern Europe, the local teams will serve more than 22,000 rotations in the first year at the largest and busiest airport in Serbia.

This agreement is another step of Air Serbia that will enable further expansion of its network. With around 50% of the market share at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, the Serbian national airline has successfully expanded its network with 15 new destinations in 2022, with another 23 destinations in 2023, including those in the USA, China, Greece, Italy, Germany, Poland and other countries. From November, the Serbian national airline will establish direct flights between Belgrade and Porto, thus adding the second largest city in Portugal to its network of destinations.

We are extremely satisfied with the future cooperation with such a well-known provider of ground handling services, such as “Menzies Aviation”. During this summer season, Air Serbia achieved unprecedented growth, but at the same time faced certain challenges in the field of ground handling services. I want to apologize once again to all passengers who were affected by the situation at our home airport this summer. During the season, we reacted quickly to that situation by hiring new staff in record time. Now we are moving to the next step, because in 2024 we want to provide the best possible service to our passengers and have a reliable partner for the future growth of the company, said Jirži Marek, General Director of Air Serbia.

We are very excited to have the opportunity to cooperate with Air Serbia and help it achieve additional local and international growth. Strategically, as the number one groundhandling provider in the world and the number one in the region, this joint venture is a big step for Menzies as it supports our efforts to expand our presence in the Balkans and support new markets in the field of aviation. We look forward to providing the best high-quality service on the Balkan aviation market together with the fast-growing Air Serbia and increasing our market share at Belgrade Airport, said Philipp Joeinig, CEO of Menzies Aviation.
