Today, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, visited the works on the new bridge over the Sava near the village of Macvanski Pricinovic, the future highway Ruma-Sabac and the fast road Sabac-Loznica.
In a conversation with the representatives of the Azerbaijani company Azvirt, Vucic asked for the works to be accelerated, especially on the highway route.
The President received a promise from the contractor that the highway from Ruma to Sabac will be completed by the end of September or the beginning of October 2023, and the fast road from Sabac to Loznica by the end of October 2024.
“The contractor shortened the deadlines by a year and three months, which is a great thing,” Vucic added, reports Tanjug.
Vucic said that Azvirt was doing well and that he was satisfied with the work on the construction of the new bridge, adding that it was very important to complete that road as soon as possible.
“This is very important for the citizens of this part of Serbia. We are building highways so that the citizens would benefit from that,” Vucic emphasized.
The tour of the works is also attended by the Minister of Construction Tomislav Momirovic, the director of the Corridor of Serbia Aleksandar Antic, the acting Director of Roads of Serbia Zoran Drabonjak.
This road infrastructure facility will have 28 pillars and will be a little more than 1.3 kilometers long.
The entire road from Ruma to Loznica will be 77 kilometers long, and will be of great importance for the development of the economy of this part of Serbia.
The agreed price of the works is 467.5 million euros, and the works are being performed by the Azerbaijani company Azvirt with domestic subcontractors.
During his visit to the construction site in February this year, Antic stated that all necessary preparations would be completed by the end of March so that the contractor could be introduced to the route of the future road from Ruma to Sabac.
On the way out of Hrtkovac, Azvirt has already built a camp to accommodate workers who will work on this section of the future highway.
The 45.4-kilometer highway from Novi Sad through Fruska Gora to Ruma will be connected to this road, so that the largest city in Vojvodina will have the fastest road connection with western Serbia and Republika Srpska, ie Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The 77-kilometer route Ruma-Sabac-Loznica, together with the Frushkogorski corridor, will be a new road with a total of 122.4 kilometers of new road.
The new corridor from Belgrade to Sabac will be reached in a maximum of 40 minutes, and to Loznica in an hour and 15 minutes.
In two and a half years from Belgrade to Sabac in less than 40 minutes.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated today, after talks with the contractors, that the Ruma-Sabac highway will be completed in two and a half years and that it will then take less than 40 minutes to reach Sabac from Belgrade.
“Serbia will be networked with highways and fast roads and will be a completely different country. By the end of 2025, Serbia will be unrecognizable in relation to what it was a year ago,” Vucic emphasized after visiting the works on the new bridge over the Sava near the village of Macvanski Pricinovic, which is being built within the future Ruma-Sabac highway and fast road Sabac-Loznica.
The President emphasized that by the end of 2025, Serbia will get a completely “new bloodstream”.
He pointed out that the Azerbaijani company Azvirt shortened the deadlines, since the entire project was supposed to be ready by the end of 2025, so that the Ruma-Sabac highway will be ready by October 2023, and to Loznica by October 2024.
He said that Azvirt is well ahead of the plan when it comes to the construction of a magnificent bridge on the Sava, which will be about 1.5 kilometers long.
“It will be the second road bridge for the people of Sabac and it is of great importance for the whole of Macva, Kolubara, Srem, Belgrade and southern Backa,” said Vucićcand announced that the construction of the fast road from Sabac to Loznica should start by September 1.
He says that the industrial zone in Sabac will attract a large number of investors due to the highway and the proximity to Belgrade and the “Nikola Tesla” airport.
He pointed out that the state has already paid the contractor about 40 million euros without borrowing, and added that by the end of 2025, problems with sewerage in a large number of municipalities and cities will be solved, and a wastewater treatment plant will be built, Vucic added.
He says that further work will be done on gasification for factories and households.
The President also referred to vaccination and pointed out that vaccination is very important so that the economy could work, and announced that he would present tables in the coming days so that citizens could see that vaccines saved us from, as he said, disaster.
He added that the epidemiological situation is still very difficult and pointed out as an imperative – responsibility.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic says that the situation with the coronavirus epidemic is difficult and that is why he emphasized the importance of vaccinating as many people as possible, and expects large deliveries of vaccines in the coming days and weeks, and Fazier’s and Chinese Sinofarm vaccines.
When asked by journalists in Sabac, after visiting the works on the construction of road infrastructure, whether the measures in force will be effective, if some people sit in the gardens and cafes that are closed, Vucic said that there is understanding, especially for young people.
“Whatever you do, the situation is difficult for us, but you have to understand people, the corona took away a year of their lives, especially for young people,” said Vucic and stated that young people are waiting to continue living normally, reports Tanjug.

He stated that people infected with the coronavirus have severe images and are dying, and that is why it is important to get vaccinated.
Vucic says that in the vaccination campaign, which he will start soon, he will surely come to Macva and the villages in that part.
“I will also come to Majur, to try to vaccinate 1,000 people a day. I will come to be with those people, to get vaccinated, because without that we will not have the progress of the state,” said Vucic, Politika reports.
