Companies from Belgrade achieved more than half of the positive result of the Serbian economy

More than half of the positive results in the business of the Serbian economy in 2020 were achieved by companies from Belgrade, and the region of southern and eastern Serbia achieved the highest profitability growth last year, the Business Register Agency (APR) announced.

The companies from Belgrade made a net profit in the amount of 1.8 billion euros, which was 24.4 percent higher than in 2019, it is stated in the announcement.

This region also recorded the largest increase in the number of employees, so with 543,692 workers, it accounted for 44.6 percent of the total number of employees in the economy.

The region of Vojvodina achieved a positive net result of 722 million euros, but it was 12.7 percent lower than the year before.

As stated, companies from the region of Sumadija and western Serbia also operated more successfully.

Their net profit, in the amount of 510 million euros, was increased by 10.4 percent annually, and the number of employees increased by 7,435 workers, so that companies from this region employed a total of 223,747 workers, the APR reported.

As it was pointed out, the most dynamic growth of profitability was achieved with companies in the region of southern and eastern Serbia.

The positive net result of this region was 2.6 times higher than the year before and amounted to 498 million euros.

After a loss of 12.7 million euros a year earlier, companies from Kosovo had a net profit of 3.4 million euros in 2020, N1 reports.
