Construction of a new building for the Science and Technology Park in Čačak will begin in the spring at the location of the former Cer factory, announced Mayor Milun Todorović.

According to him, the new block will cover 12,000 square meters, and the move-in of new users is expected in about a year and a half, as reported by eKapija.

“Eight years ago, we started very modestly in the space of Komunalac in Nikola Tesla Street, and then when the library got its building, the old space was transformed into a startup center. Then we went a step further and entered the reconstruction of the space in the former Cer factory, covering about 6,000 square meters, which cost the state about 4.5 million euros.

Our STP is one of four in Serbia, alongside Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Niš, that entered the program for the construction of a new facility. We secured land next to the existing STP, completed project-technical documentation, and now 22 million euros will be invested in the facility and very expensive equipment. We belong to the regional STP, and we have about 50 residents, and we expect that increasing capacity will enable young people to stay here and engage in innovations,” emphasized Todorović, as reported by Morava info.

The signing of contracts with contractors for the construction of science and technology parks in Čačak, Niš, and Kruševac is expected in February, according to the Ministry of Public Investments.

As they stated, offers are open, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which announced the tender, is currently providing comments on the report.

The tender for the construction and expansion of science and technology parks in Čačak, Kruševac, and Niš was announced in September, with a deadline for application on November 16 last year.
