Nis Mayor Milos Simonovic and Nebojsa Stankovic, the legal representative of Italnis Group d.o.o., yesterday signed an agreement at Nis City Hall on the allotment of undeveloped building land in public property in the location of Lozni Kalem.
This Serbian-Italian company bought Lozni Kalem lot from the City at an auction in late 2010. The lot spans a total of 15 ha and is situated on the right side of the entrance to Niska Banja spa resort. On a surface of 5.5 ha, An aqua park will be built on a surface of 5.5 ha, while two luxury hotels, sports courts and other facilities within that sports and business complex will be constructed on the rest of the land.
Over 100 million euros will be invested in the construction of the complex and more than thousand new jobs will be created in that way.
The City of Nis sold the entire complex to Italnis at the price of RSD 780 per square meter. This company was also the only bidder, which is why it purchased the lot at the starting price.
Yesterday’s signing of the agreement represents the end of all legal procedures related to this significant investment.
Mayor Simonovic expressed a hope that the construction of one of the biggest investments in the tourism sector in this part of Serbia would commence within next few months.
– Construction of the aqua park is a driver of the development of the City borough of Niska Banja, which is a big potential for development of the City of Nis. It is most important that this attractive location, which has been standing unused for years, is now finally in use – said Mayor Simonovic and expressed an expectation that investors would respect the agreed deadlines.
According to the investor’s announcement, this complex will be built in three phases. The first phase will include construction of an aqua park, which is expected to be ready for visitors as soon as next summer, while a hotel will be built prior to 2013 and its completion will be followed by construction of other tourist contents.
