Construction of factory in Sid starts in March

German companies Berthold Simon and Fasel Energy to invest €135 million

German companies Berthold Simon and Fasel Energy should start construction of their plants in Sid in March. A tire recycling unit and a biogas power plant will be built in Visnjicevo housing project, on an area spanning 47 ha.

German companies are going to invest 135 million euros and employ 150 people.

Jovana Lakic, the Head of the Cabinet of the Mayor of Sid, told Ekapija that agricultural land in Visnjicevo would become a building land and that that municipality would provide a maximum support to future investors.

– Construction should commence in March, while production is planned to start in 2012. The tire recycling plant will employ 110 people, while 40 people will get jobs at the biogas production unit – said Ms. Lakic.

Ms. Lakic also stated that the companies were preparing main projects in Germany and that “pure technology” would be applied in Sid.

Berthold Simon will open a recycling plant, while Fasel Energy will be producing biogas.
