Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic stated after the signing ceremony that this loan is just part of the funds necessary for completion of the Prokop project and that Serbia’s interest is to have it completed as soon as possible.

The Prime Minister said that this loan has been approved under very favourable conditions, with a fixed annual interest rate of 3%, repayment period of 18 years, and a grace period of four years.

This is only the first part of possible projects with Kuwait, as there are potentials for cooperation in the areas of agriculture, civil engineering and military industry, Dacic said.

Dacic said that the scope of the Serbian-Kuwaiti trade is insignificant amounting to only a few million dollars, adding that it is Serbia’s interest and desire to strongly develop the relations with Kuwait and other Arab countries.

Al-Bader underlined that the Fund is working in many world countries which have difficulties in the economic development, and that he is happy to offer help to Serbia.

Al-Bader and Minister of Transport Milutin Mrkonjic signed an agreement on loan for the project railway station in Belgrade (Centre – Phase 1).

Mrkonjic came up with a proposal to representatives of Kuwait that at the current location of the main railway station in Belgrade, after its relocation and construction of the station Prokop, a Kuwaiti business centre is built that would represent their European base and good relationship with all countries on the continent.

The Minister said that the long awaited construction of “Prokop” will continue in spring 2013.
