Construction of wastewater treatment plant in the Nikola Tesla B TPP complex planned

, News
The Electric Power Industry of Serbia plans to build a wastewater treatment plant in the complex of the Nikola Tesla B Thermal Power Plant in Usce near Obrenovac. On that occasion, a request was submitted to the Ministry of Environmental Protection for approval of the Study on Environmental Impact Assessment.
The total area of the location where the realization of the plant is planned is 85,018 m 2 .
Realization of the planned project includes:
construction of S1 – Oily wastewater treatment plant in which oily and oily wastewater treatment originating from: boiler zone (expander and drainage pits), engine room and bunkers (drainage pits), external fuel oil systems, transformer zone (emptying of collection pits), garages (vehicle washing), oil and lubricant storage (atmospheric water) and auxiliary boiler rooms (steam condensate from fuel oil heating); the estimated maximum quantities of oily and oily wastewater are about 120 m3 / h; treated wastewater will be discharged into the pool of hydromixtures in the excavator stations of blocks B1 and B2;
construction of S2 – Coal-fired wastewater treatment plant in which the treatment of charred wastewater flows will be performed, which include: atmospheric water within the coal landfill, atmospheric water within the coal delivery, drainage of the unloading station track, washing of sloping bridges, waste water from thawing wagon, bulldozer washing; the amount of coal-contaminated wastewater varies significantly and could reach a maximum daily flow of about 45 m3 / h; treated wastewater will be discharged into the pool of hydromixtures in the excavator stations of blocks B1 and B2;
construction of S3 – Wastewater treatment plant from EDC in which wastewater treatment from the future desulphurization plant will be performed; plant S3 will be built on the site of the future EDC plant for blocks B1 and B2; the estimated maximum amount of wastewater from EDC will be about 30 m3 / h (15 m3 / h per block); treated wastewater will be discharged into the pool of hydromixtures in the excavator stations of blocks B1 and B2;
replacement of the equipment of the existing sanitary wastewater treatment plant PUTOKS I and PUTOKS II (biological treatment of sanitary wastewater) – for the needs of sanitary wastewater treatment the existing equipment at the PUTOKS I and PUTOKS II plants will be replaced by appropriate assembly units for sanitary wastewater treatment capacity; treated sanitary wastewater from Potox will, as in the existing state, be gravitationally discharged into the Sava River through the peripheral canal. The amount of sanitary wastewater is estimated at 54 m3 / h.
The complex of the planned project will provide a portable pump , with a capacity of 50 m3 / h, for the use of drainage of all pools and reservoirs of wastewater treatment plants. The portable pump will be equipped with motors, all necessary auxiliary parts and flexible hoses to transfer drainage from each pool and system tank. The pump will be in a four-wheeled wagon.
After the wastewater treatment at Plants S1, S2 and S3, the treated wastewater is discharged into the hydromixture pool , in the excavator stations of blocks B1 and B2. All collected water in the pool of the hydromixture is used to transport the ash (mixture of ash and water) to the ash dump and discharged into the active cassette. Wastewater from the ash landfill (underground and drainage) is not discharged into the recipient, but is used for wetting the ash landfill.
Realization of planned wastewater treatment plants (oily, oily, charred, sanitary-fecal wastewater and wastewater from flue gas desulphurization) is a priority and prerequisite for protection
water quality of the Sava River, groundwater, soil, health of the population and employees , ie environment and social environment and improvement of the situation in the field of wastewater management in the complex of TPP Nikola Tesla B, because the construction will establish an appropriate way of wastewater management, in accordance with legal regulations of the Republic of Serbia and the best practice of EU Directives , it is stated in the documentation.
The total approximate gross area of WWTP TPP Nikola Tesla B is 9,070 m 2 , realized by the conceptual design, or 2,080 m 2 under the building.
The construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the Nikola Tesla B Thermal Power Plant complex can be sustainable and environmentally friendly with strict application of projected environmental protection measures and environmental monitoring, as well as measures to prevent, eliminate, minimize and legalize all negative environmental impacts. are in the Study, eKapija reports.
