The Minister of Mining and Energy, Zorana Mihajlović, talked today with the Ambassador of Italy in Belgrade, Carlo Lo Cascio, about the cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, especially when it comes to RES, projects planned by the Ministry and opportunities for Italian companies to participate in their realization.
Mihajlović said that Serbia, by adopting a new legislative framework, created different, more favorable conditions for investments in the field of mining and energy.
“Our investment plan in the field of energy and mining includes projects worth 17 billion euros, of which a significant part is for electricity and RES. So, there is room for cooperation with Italian companies that are welcome to work in Serbia. We are working to significantly increase the amount of energy we receive from renewable sources and to go towards ensuring the sustainable use of all resources. Our vision is that by 2040, at least 40% of energy will be obtained from renewable sources, and that in 2050 we will reach climate neutrality. Also, part of our vision on the green agenda is regional connection and ensuring energy stability,” said Mihajlović.
Ambassador Lo Cascio said that Serbia is a country with significant economic growth and that Italian companies recognize it as a country where new investment opportunities are opening up.
“To strengthen cooperation in the RES sector, I think that is the basis. I know that you have passed new laws that greatly facilitate investments in this area. We want to cooperate, because it is crucial to be together in the process of energy transition, but also to overcome the next energy crises more easily,” he said.
In addition to cooperation in the field of RES and the energy crisis and the need for cooperation in the field of energy, the meeting also discussed the fight against the pandemic and the economic recovery of both countries in the post-pandemic period, RTV reports.
