Serbia’s only steelmaker, Chinese-owned Zelezara Smederevo, will not be affect by the European Commission’s anti-dumping duties on China’s steel products.

This is what the EU delegation to Serbia said on its website, in a statement entitled, “False news about anti-dumping duties.”

According to this, EC’s January 27 decision has no impact on the import of Serbian steel in the EU.

“It is limited to exports from China and Taiwan of stainless steel tube and pipe butt-welding fittings. However, an investigation could be initiated if they attempt trans-ship these product to sell them in the EU as produced in Serbia,” the EU delegation to Serbia said, adding:

“This decision is also completely unrelated to the ongoing anti-dumping investigation on steel imports from Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia and Iran. This separate investigation concerns a different set of products: hot rolled flat products of iron, non-alloy or other alloy steel.”
