The European Investment Bank (EIB) is interested in participating in the realisation of regional projects which Serbia has launched together with neighbouring countries, primarily the construction of the Nis-Pristina motorway, the Serbian Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure released on Tuesday.

According to the release, the interest was voiced during the meeting of Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and EIB Vice-President Dario Scannapieco, who expressed satisfaction with the quality of cooperation so far.

Scannapieco underscored that the feasibility study for the project of the Nis-Pristina motorway with a connection route for the Adriatic coast and the regional railway section via Sarajevo should demonstrate economic justifiability based on which EIB would be able to voice a more specific view.

It has been agreed for EIB investment funds to become active in Serbia in terms of initiation of joint projects.

During the meeting, the officials agreed that 95 per cent of expropriation procedures for the land along Corridor 10 have been completed, which is the basic condition for successful realisation of loans withdrawn from EIB for purposes of motorway construction.
