The number of transactions in the Instant payment system of the National Bank of Serbia is constantly increasing. In April, a total of 1,862,040 payments were made in this system, and in May – 2,147,624 payments, the NBS announced.
A record number of realized transactions since the beginning of the work of the mentioned system was recorded on May 20, 2020 – 133,328 payments.
As it is stated, such an increase in the number of executed transactions was contributed especially by those banks which, recognizing the importance of instant payments, actively promote this service.
This includes the pricing policy formed in such a way that it stimulates payment service users to make greater use of the possibility of instant payment when making payments.
According to the National Bank of Serbia, the first five banks that performed the largest number of transactions in the IPS NBS system in May were: Banca Intesa, OTP Banka Srbija, Komercijalna banka, Banka Postanska Å¡tedionica and Erste banka.
The NBS IPS system provides payment service providers with individual instant payments 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year (24/7/365), ie. at any time of the day during any day of the year, and almost instantly, that is, within just a few seconds.
The IPS NBS system started operating on October 22, 2018.
Instant payments can currently be initiated by electronic banking, mobile banking and by submitting payment orders at the counters of payment service providers, Nova Ekonomija reports.
